Monday Morning Blues

Do you dread Mondays? It can bring on anxiety, sadness, stress, sluggishness and cardiovascular problems. Monday Blues are so prevalent, they have become a cultural phenomenon. By adjusting the way you view Mondays, you can take some of the control back and make yourself feel good.

1. Don’t live for the weekends.
Find something you love to do and do it on a weeknight. If you can feel joy on
the weekend you can feel it during the week. It may just take a little more
planning.

2. Relax. Don’t overload your weekends
You could end up feeling even more groggy and miserable during the week.

3. Don’t sleep in
The same sleep schedule all week will help you feel rested come Monday
morning. Studies have shown people who sleep in late on weekends could be
suffering from social jet lag.

4. Plan ahead Sunday night.
Figure out lunch and your outfit the night before and you won’t be scrambling
Monday morning. If you’ve got , get them organized as well to start
the week off right.

5. Get plenty of sleep
Being tired will only add to the stress of a hectic Monday.

6. Don’t skip breakfast.
This is true everyday but especially on Mondays when you’ve been out of your
routine for a few days.

7. Get pumped with some tunes.
Listening to a favourite song can help boost your Monday morning mood.

8. Get some exercise.
In the morning, before work. This will boost your endorphins, making you
happier throughout the day.

9. Look snazzy.
If you look good, you feel good. Wear something you absolutely love. If you
already feel groggy, dressing sloppy will only make you feel worse.

10. Smile.
Even if it’s forced, it can make you feel better.

11. Treat yourself.
Maybe splurge on a fancy latte or buy a new magazine for your morning
commute. Having something to look forward to on Mondays will make it feel
less daunting.

12. Take small breaks throughout the day.
Getting some fresh air and eating a proper lunch can do wonders for both
your attitude and productivity.

13. Figure out why Mondays are blue.
Is it time to switch careers? There’s something to be said for having a job that
doesn’t fill you with dread at the end of every weekend, and sometimes
even taking a pay cut to be happy is worth it. It is possible to like, or even
love, your work.

Do you feel stressed when you think about returning to work on Mondays? What do you do to overcome the 'blues'

Good advice. Every day of the week should be great in it's own way. But since I'm retired who am I to talk ? I look forward to Mondays now.

I could have used your advice earlier... I didn't get much sleep this weekend and I'm paying the price. Something to look forward to during the week? You mean change it up and use the left hand? Ooo... Now that's a novel thought... Eee..

Being ambidextrous is indeed a rare talent. Video it and we can all critique how well you are doing.

Weekends have always just been another pair of days in my week. I have only worked one job in my entire life where we didnt work weekends. Sundays are kinda the odd day as many businesses I may wish to visit are not open, but that can be worked around. However, as an incurable rumage saler, F, SA & SN are the prime days for these, so.... other wise I could care less about weekends. Now that I am retired, weekends are even less important.

Yes, retirement certainly changes our view about days of the week. Every day feels like the weekend! And, it’s often difficult to remember what day it is. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

After nearly 30 yrs of working a job where I always had Mondays off, I wondered how I would feel about going back into a M-F routine. Doesn't bother me a bit. I never dread the new job, I just go in and do it. Can't say I really love it, but I don't mind it at all. I already keep the same sleep schedule, I get up at 5:30am every day, I feel sick if I sleep later than 7.

Not everyone would be as adaptable as you.
I also wake up virtually the same time, every day, including weekends, and usually without the aid of an alarm clock ⏰.
Thanks for sharing your perspective.

great ideas sexyldy1000.

thanks for sharing...

I'm ok with any day...

reminded me of this...

Camila Cabello - "Havana"

Hey
Havana, ooh na-na (ay)
Half of my heart is in Havana, ooh-na-na (ay, ay)
He took me back to East Atlanta, na-na-na
Oh, but my heart is in Havana (ay)
There's somethin' 'bout his manners (uh huh)
Havana, ooh na-na (uh)
He didn't walk up with that "how you doin'?" (uh)
(When he came in the room)
He said there's a lot of girls I can do with (uh)
(But I can't without you)
I knew him forever in a minute (hey)
(That summer night in June)
And papa says he got malo in him (uh)
He got me feelin' like
Ooh-ooh-ooh, I knew it when I met him
I loved him when I left him
Got me feelin' like
Ooh-ooh-ooh, and then I had to tell him
I had to go, oh na-na-na-na-na
Havana, ooh na-na (ay, ay)
Half of my heart is in Havana, ooh-na-na (ay, ay)
He took…
