I was always a player, not a coach.

.....and i live in the area where Dr Naismith invented the game. Springfield College is 10 minutes away.....and the Basketball Hall of fame is also 10 minutes away. It was actually initially housed on the campus of Springfield College. This whole city has colorful 15 ft painted basketballs sneakers spread around. Everyone knows here is its birthplace ~~

Take a look @ them ..google... Giant Fiberglass Sneakers, Springfield , Massachusetts

The next city over Holyoke , MA is the birthplace of VolleyBall and they have colorful volleyballs all over the city.

....and West Hartford , Connecticut has colorful cows....and i dont know why. lol

Sports is one thing that I stayed away from getting into. My kids chose dance... I was not much help with that. And my kids chose scouting and I helped out THERE. Ask me how to set up a tent? lol... 😊

Taking a break from sports movie flashback with Author51 whose knowledge is limitless. She is saving me from dementia?!??

I did get to Coach both my sons at Soccer, Baseball and Hockey. I never wanted to be the Head Coach so always took the position as Assistant buy stepped up when needed.

My motto has always been...kids in sports stay out of courts (trouble). I enjoy seeing my Boys friends drop over and still joke around about the fun they managed when playing and that is what it is all about.

I give credit to all who have gone through the certifications because you do truly care and the players know it and always will show their appreciation.

which is just why i started my comment with......." and ". Of course he is Canadian.....i dont think anyone was /can or will negate that. I was very simply stating that i live where it ( the sport ) all began......AND to share with your readers the lovely artwork erected in honor of.

I never generalize, so i wouldnt venture to assume what any other American or Canadian realizes or not. I know for myself.....sport is sport no matter the country, for all to enjoy ...or not.

Here's hoping others can appreciate the artwork~~

I have been coached by women but never had the pleasure of coaching them!

Alley-oops- that brings back some memories from way back. 😂😂

Yup, I coached both my kids and was the head coach for my son. The dads all came to the first practice. 12 dads sitting in on practice watching a woman coach basketball. After the first night-they came every time. I used the dads as dummy defense. They loved it!!!

Kids loved it and even when I run into them today- in town. They still call me coach. Fun times.

As for football- let’s just say- I could coach circles around any man. I’d break films down for my son and his buddies. Football is in my blood. If only- I was a boy. 😂😂

Great post!!

I was a player for many years...… I was an assistant coach to my younger brother for grade 6 CYO basketball. I was a baseball umpire for 3 years. There was always a parent that could do be better and get kids to be better while at the occasional game but never at a practice. I wondered if I was actually that bad or they were actually that good??? Who am I kidding. Those noisy parents dropped the ball more times you can count. I know, I challenged the really loud ones

I've been watching the Women's World Cup soccer tournament that's on in France.
I'd love to take a dive in your box

I coached an adult women's hockey team. There were different teams in the organization, but the one I liked working with the most was the beginner group. They were mostly brand new to the game. Some had kids who played and they finally got the bug.
They were very open to learning. It felt good to see them improve on things that we talked about or practiced.
