time will tell

In my thirst for action I did something I am not sure was a good thing….time will tell.

Time will tell.

I suppose time will tell us many things. For me it has convinced that doing the right thing is a solitary career, one that cannot be undertaken with the expectation that others will support it. And that being alone is not the same as being lonely. Having even one person who calls out your name in whatever fashion is often enough to continue whatever battle you are fighting.

Death has done more for than most of life’s sorrows. It digs so much deeper with its talons. reminds of us the passion we may have let wither. Slams us with our own mortality. And leaves us hunched with loss. And yet it tenderly , achingly shows us love.

I am filled with such melancholy as I watch my country these days. And yet these young people who are trying so hard to save it fills me with such joy. I remember that fierce fire in my own belly in the 60’s when we were demonstrating against the war. The feeling of being part of something that mattered, passion……….

Since forever, we have not stopped being in the business of war. The corporate business of war. The corporate business of killing for profit and media.

HA. I guess, I’ve talked myself right out of feeling guilty.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

My first protest was outside the American embassy in London 1968 which was very heavy for a boy in his early teens, I am still at it 51yrs later, maybe I should have learnt to give up by now but there are battles that have and can be won.

Another dim wit it appears! When you start believing you should be proud of a bunch of mind numb children that have been taught by a bunch of tree hugging Communist who hate the greatest country on the face of the earth and it's founding and you want to be proud of that . Well hells bells that would make you one of them. Clueless !!!

I can swim in most rivers and ponds today, 40 years ago not so much. Kids have no clue how much better so many things are today then in the past. Most are brought up ungrateful little punks who have everything at their wanting from the sacrifice of others.

wickedeasy replies on 10/1/2019 11:58 am:
those "kids" are more educated than most of the adults about climate change and if we don't pay attention to the scientists that those kids are paying attention to...…...we are likely the last generation that will have such an easy go of it.

As long as there is one standing up for what they believe, willing to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, there will always be hope.

I see hope in those young faces...and in the weathered, weary faces who were in their shoes before.

Always so lovely to see a post from you, we.

I hope you are well.

Those kids are fighting for their lives, and they're in for the fight of their lives. Power and wealth don't ever give up easily and they don't "give" anything at all. It has to be taken from them, the same way they took it in the first place.

As for being spoiled punks, yeah, I reckon some of them are. And others just don't want to be shot in their classrooms, poisoned by tainted water or choked by oxygen depleted air. They want a future of hope and as Greta Thunberg so eloquently stated, they don't give a shit about endless economic growth. She's my kind of woman.

It's very sad that children have to demonstrate about climate change. People, companies and governments are failing in a big way to save us from a 'mass extinction' as Thunberg called it.

At this point I honestly am glad that I didn't have children who will have to live through what's going to happen during the next 50 years.

wickedeasy replies on 10/1/2019 12:03 pm:
nods. isn't that a terrible thing to have to think.

Each generation has its own struggles and....battles. I applaud them for seeing what the larger picture is and...taking a stand towards betterment. Kudos to our youth ~~

I am as frustrated as anyone with the sloth, willful ignorance and cognitive dissonance that fills the American *swamp* we must drain.

While I agree that we need the energy, innovation and spirit of Millennials and Gen Z's, I have not yet given up on either seniors or the middle-aged. Since the 1970's life expectancy in North America has increased by over 10%. The Older Generation has more skin in the game than ever.

I remain optimistic and believe the solutions to our current crises will come incrementally and from all age groups.

wickedeasy replies on 10/1/2019 12:05 pm:
I am perhaps not quite as optimistic as you are about the older generation or that incremental change will be an acceptable solution. however, I love an optimist.

What in the world did you DO? I bet it wasn't that bad.

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale
Her infinite variety. Other women cloy
The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry
Where most she satisfies. For vilest things
Become themselves in her, that the holy priests
Bless her when she is riggish. ~~ from Antony & Cleopatra

The young people's efforts to get all of us to see what is wrong with damaging the planet, gives me great joy also. I've committed to becoming a vegetarian with the goal of becoming a vegan around the New Year in my effort to help with reducing water usage for animal ag-business, and the pollution that animal ag-business causes.

I love ya sis,
