I don't trust AI to do much of anything, LOL.
I am not ready to turn anything over to AI. It has not proven itself to be all that smart
I think of it was just another tool. All tools need to be used carefully and can be dangerous when misused.
I let AI help me with recipes. It's killer at helping me with seasonings and timings. Lol.
Other than that, I used ChatGPT today to try and help my mom understand that some of her thinking is a bit whacked. It helped in the moment, but by bedtime, she'll be back at it again. The challenges of trying to keep your mind intact when you are 94 and come from a family full of mental illness.
Interesting twist there -- trying to use AI to assist with mental health. Best wishes on that whole situation!
@CleavageFan4U The reason I used it for my mom was to be able to get all available sources, as well as AI could do, rather than my finding one source that my mom could possibly argue. To get a consensus from across multiple viewpoints within a community of thought seems to have been very persuasive to her. It was actually quite interesting to be honest.
@MyNameIsKay WOW, good thinking. I never would have thought of that.
can I ask you a question please?
Yes, and if it's reasonable I'll even reply.
You can get wall clocks that are not only backward running but the numbers are backward as well what would AI make of that.+
I think AI screwed the pooch pretty well with just this clock.
To be honest, I don't really think about AI at all.
I don't know how you escape it. Maybe you are using it and don't realize it.
@CleavageFan4U I know my browser uses it. It shows as "copilot" but I don't deliberately think about it, test it, play with it.
I don't trust AI in what I've used it so far.
I'm refusing Google's regular invitations to switch my searches into AI searches.
At this point I'm ok with using it for more complete searches, but nothing more than that (like booking reservations, etc.)
I regularly refuse those invitations too, but it seems that it’s still giving me AI results? In other words, above the list of various links it gives me a summary of what it thinks is the most relevant answer to my question.
@smartasswoman I too get AI summary, which I generally ignore. But I suspect by stealth, or at least by attrition, AI searches will be foisted on us.
@OldStandardDudeX I'll have to see if I can turn that function off. Like you, I'd much sooner go to the original sources that AI is stealing from.
