Is the annoyance/exhaustion with text speak in messages a generational thing? Or is it mostly just me? I can't stand people using text speak shortcuts in messages. It takes maybe an extra second or two to spell out the words. I think it says so much about a person who can't be bothered to do that. And yes, I judge! I'm willing to accept an occasional LOL or even a BTW. But WYD instead of just asking or mixing numbers in there (like gr8)... it's so grating! If you send me messages like that, consider yourself lucky if I provide a simple reply (if I'm in a good mood). And don't get me started on incomplete sentences, lack of punctuation and horrible grammar!

I blocked someone who would say “lolz”. It made my skin crawl. But yes, we are getting old

I’m old school, use words; I don’t need shorthand, shortcuts, hieroglyphics, symbols, picture signs etc…..
Words or recognized abbreviations are a must. The really grating one, for me, is "your" instead of "you're." Arrgh! "To" for "too" is also often misused. At least with those, I can decipher the message. When people start throwing in WXDL, TLFOR, or other such nonsense is when they really lose me.
Some just do not know how to spell. Others are just lazy.
