I opened my eyes to face a brilliant blue neon light frozen on the words:
Next in line? What fucking line?
I was alone in a large cement room, standing naked on a damp, grey-epoxied floor, facing a plate-glass window looking out onto a barren street. Not a soul in sight.
A dump truck parked just beyond the glass made no sound. No driver behind the wheel.
I listened to my heartbeat. That's all I could hear. The air was ice cold. I shivered.
I turned my head to see where I was. There was no doorway or furniture, but a thick black rubber cord, with a metal box attached — and a red plastic button — dangled near my head. Large steel grates lay along the center of that angled floor. Green mould clung to the edges.
A dozen overhead sprinklers dotted the ceiling.
I walked forward and peered through the glass into the city street. I could see no one. Nothing moved. Not even the brown leaves of that tree.
I stepped back to the dangling wire and examined the box. The red button was labeled, "Press here."
So I did...
In less than a second, the dump truck roared through the glass, shattering me into a million pieces of red steaming flesh. Those sprinklers simultaneously gushed gallons of water and flushed my mangled sludge into the drains.
The truck backed up. The plate glass window was swiftly replaced by workers dressed in orange overalls, who appeared from nowhere. A hidden door at the back had opened, and someone was pushed into the center of the room.
That neon light lit up in brilliant blue.
... some people are more interested in entrance rather than exit...

@Paulxx001 I do have visions that are unpleasant, but I have to say that they've never included cement. Maybe it's just me...I know I'm an odd duck. 😶
So...you really thinking of leaving? I did remove my first set of posts quite a number of years ago. It was painful and slow. But now I've started writing a bit again, although it would be far less painful to clear this time.

I've already 'nested' much of what I've written here elsewhere, and there's no way I'll waste my time with any plans for a post-by-post clean-up: my house — and life — are nagging me for attention.
'Leaving' would NOT be the word I'd use. Perhaps run outta things to say... one day?
But as you can tell, I've now shifted to darker themes, so as long as I don't bore (or scare) myself, I'll hang around till this place sinks.
Or until that truck... 😲

I can understand the sentiment about leaving or pausing or just lurking.

But I gotta watch out. I totaled my car last week. Some guy was texting and looked up too late to miss me. No one and nothing hurt... but my heart. I loved that baby.😐

I had planned to just delete this account, but I have to say I'm kind of curious what the new platform will bring.
My current plan is to post all the writing I've worked on in the past few years (it's a jumbled mess), get to level 10 and be done.
I really haven't written anything new in awhile, so it's not a whole lot of work just to come on here and post what I already have.
We shall see how it goes.
As far as a final exit strategy, well I have a built-in self-destruct button on my phone, just in case I succumb to a tragic heart attack or stroke, and need to delete any incriminating evidence!

Wow! Level 10? That's a lofty and worthy goal, but out of reach for me.
All my stuff has been copied and saved in a few spots, including the 'cloud.' My recent thoughts might not be appropriate for this crowd: I post elsewhere, so as not to scare anyone. lol...😲
I'll have to look into that 'button' on MY phone. Although at this point I don't really care. My offspring have been alerted and know I have an affliction. They roll their eyes and prefer my 'for-all' material.😂
